Pinklab[s]

Once upon a time, a pinkhouse fell in love with MARTA, and thus Pinklab[s] was born
Description
Before I can tell you that story, first I must tell you about another story. In a city where all roads lead to Waffle House, the sad reality is that some neighborhoods don't have access to healthy food. This is due to the spatial inequity of suburbanization and its constituents such as divisive highways, schismatic policy, and the reliance on petroleum and the automobile.

Essentially, PinkLab[s] aims to revitalize underused infrastructure to act as connectors for neighborhoods with limited access to healthy foods. PinkLab[s] is a synthesis of the production, distribution, and retail of food through reconnecting transportation infrastructure including MARTA, bike paths, and electric vehicle charging stations. Imagine getting off a MARTA train from work and grabbing your groceries on the spot, or grabbing a snack while waiting for the next train- imagine visiting a MARTA station for a reason other than to just pass through.

Though the PinkLabs’ program interventions vary between the different sites/ MARTA stations proposed, the core components remain the same:
Pinkhouse indoor vertical farming brings an efficient, resilient, and sustainable production of greens. In conjunction with local farms, it supports the MARTA Market Grocery Store which introduces a more streamlined access to fresh foods. A line of small local shops flooded by the pink growing lights gathers witnesses to the passage of food, and the outdoor garden and compost station serve the community by bringing the means to re-familiarize with the production and disposal of food. To top it all off, this is made even more accessible through bike rental and electric vehicle charging stations that better connect food to homes.
